Clearing the Air at the Port of Pittsburgh
Air date: Week of 09/09/2009
Story length: 5:44
Producer: Ann Murray
The Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio rivers have been commercial highways for the past 250 years. Today, tows and tug boats move millions of tons of cargo on the three rivers. These diesel powered boats are less polluting than some land-based freight carriers. But they still add a significant amount of toxins to our air. The Allegheny Front's Ann Murray looks at what's being done to clear the air in the Port of Pittsburgh.
