Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers are getting a lot cleaner. But good luck if you want to actually see through the water to what lies beneath. In fact, police diver Greg Tersine says diving in the Three Rivers is like swimming in “chocolate milk.” But it’s something he has to deal with on the job almost daily, whether it’s looking for evidence, saving a capsized kayaker or looking for a dead body. And all the while, he’s trying not to get caught up in the maze of refrigerators, cars and stolen ATM machines that line the bottom of the rivers.
